NYSARC recognizes that people with developmental disabilities are individuals with varied interests and capabilities. NYSARC's 55 local chapters meet the needs of the people they support in the widely diverse, cultural, social and economic conditions which characterize each locality. Every day, NYSARC provides support and services to more than 57 thousand children and adults who have intellectual and other developmental disabilities, and their families.
Through individual local chapter initiatives, a range of services has evolved which is designed to bring together the community and the people served by the chapter. Local chapter boards, families, professionals and advocates work with community leaders, friends and neighbors doing whatever it takes to include people who have developmental disabilities as full members of their communities.
While NYSARC, Inc. represents a single corporation, the local autonomy of our 55 chapters throughout New York State is central to our basic mission of community inclusion and acceptance.
