The Arc of Ulster-Greene is the Ulster and Greene Counties Chapter of NYSARC, Inc. Our agency supports some 1,300 people, from preschool throughout adulthood, who are affected by an intellectual or some other form of developmental disability. This includes autism, epilepsy, traumatic brain injury before the age of 21, Down syndrome and cerebral palsy to name a few.
Our mission is to offer people opportunities to live and experience full lives. To accomplish this, we teach, guide, mentor and offer the needed supports for people achive their goals; on a daily basis or over the course of their life. Our efforts enable people to have living skills that can lead to higher levels of independence at home, in the community or at work. These skills might include personal hygiene, learning how to take public transportation, learning how to open and manage a bank account, learning how to shop, cook, and keep up a home. In short, our services are centered around personal and family choice.
We also provide advocacy for families by helping them obtain the services they need at The Arc of Ulster-Greene or area human service organizations. This advocacy might take the form of assisting someone with the legal process of guardianship or obtaining special education services or finding ways to become better included in the community.
Thank you for your interest in The Arc of Ulster-Greene. We look forward to supporting you, the way you wish to be supported.
